Outreach and Community activities

The Department regularly observes Patient Safety Awareness Week, initially launched as a one-day program on October 19, 2020. It has since expanded to a four-day event and conducted annually

Patient Safety Week focuses on key areas such as:

  • Health worker safety
  • International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG), including:
    • Patient identity
    • Effective communication
    • High-alert medication safety
    • Correct site and procedure
    • Infection control

During this week, students are educated on these topics and conduct patient education sessions on:

  • Fall prevention
  • Skin care
  • Infection control

They also provide healthcare workers with training on infection prevention practices. Each year, approximately 400 individuals benefit from this initiative, including:

  • 100 students
  • 7 faculty members
  • 400 patients and their caregivers

Nurses from the quality cell of Sri Ramachandra Hospital contribute to teaching the students.
